Our cabin doesn’t have central heat and air, so it feels all the things: heat, humidity, cold, wetness, etc. It is very common to find mildew spots throughout the house!

When we tore up the closet from one of the bedrooms, the floor underneath the closet had a lot of mildew on it. We were going to paint this floor, but we didn’t want to just paint right over the mildew.

First, we vacuumed and then cleaned the area with normal household cleaner and a rag. We tried to get as much of the mildew up as possible.

Next, I painted over this section with special mold killing primer. I got this from Ace Hardware.

Once that dried, I painted over it with the floor paint.

You would never know!
