Our master bedroom furniture has a veneer surface, which is like a paper-thin laminate that goes over the furniture’s structure. When we got it about 12 years ago, dark wood was really in. Now, I like lighter and brighter colors, so I have slowly been painting the bedroom furniture lighter colors. (This is a blog I did from almost 2 years ago)
This time, I focused on one dresser and went with a fun “oops” paint green shade. The paint was paint + primer together, so I didn’t do all of the prep work I did with my bed and nightstands. I wasn’t sure how well it would work in terms of the paint sticking to the veneer, but figured I’d give it a shot.
Spoiler alert… it worked great!
Here are some before pictures:

I started by dusting the whole dresser really well. I removed the drawers and started painting the frame of the dresser.
First coat:

The second and third coats:

The paint dried super quickly, so I finished all three coats within 3 hours! To protect the top of the dresser, I put some matte polyurethane on it.

I purchased these drawer knobs on Amazon. I got an 18 pack for $6.99 shipped!

Check the dresser out now!
