My brother-in-law and sister recently updated their basement bedroom. They had two twin beds and wanted to create their own headboards.
If you recall, they pulled down plywood siding from the walls before painting the concrete walls. They reused this plywood to make the headboards!

They cut out four identical pieces of plywood to approximately 3 feet x 4 feet. One piece wasn’t thick enough, so they decided to put two pieces together for each headboard.

They tried using wood glue to keep the two pieces together, but the boards kept warping. They ended up putting in 4 screws on each corner to keep the boards together.
They wrapped the pieces of plywood with batting. They used a staple gun to staple it around the edge of the back.

They purchased fabric (about 30 square feet total) and wrapped it tightly around the headboards. They stapled the fabric around the back.

They cut two 2×4 pieces of wood to 4 feet in length to use as the legs of the headboard. they screwed these into the headboards.

They pushed the twin beds against the headboards- they didn’t attach them. They are staying in place really well. Check them out with the room all put together!

Very easy, very inexpensive!
