Have you ever tried using packing cubes when packing for a trip? I was always a “gallon-sized ziplock bag” packer… I would fold or roll clothes (usually one outfit) into a ziplock bag and throw it into my suitcase. That has served me well for years… until I discovered packing cubes.

This summer, I tried out these packing cubes from Amazon. Let me tell you… I won’t be going back to the gallon-sized bags! These packing cubes are SO nice. They are made of great quality, including two zippers (one for typical closing, and one to extend the cube if you need a little extra space). This pack came with 6 pieces- 5 zipper cubes and one drawstring shoe bag. They are color-coded, so you can organize specific clothes in certain colored cubes.

I was going away on a weekend-long trip, so I planned to take a duffel bag. I was curious to see how these would fit in that bag (versus a suitcase). This is what the cube looks like on the inside. Note the inside zipper pocket!

This held three outfits of mine.

Check out how, if needed, you can unzip the second zipper to give you more space to pack more items.

Here are all the packing cubes I needed for my 3 day trip.

Time to see how well they fit into my duffel bag…

It was a more than perfect fit! I can’t believe I fit all of my outfits, bathing suits, athletic wear, and more so nicely in this normal-sized duffel bag.

Since then, I have flown using these packing cubes, and they work so well. I had more than enough room in my carry-on bag for my 5-day trip!
