We have had our Big Green Egg for about a decade now, and we put it to great use. Well, when I saw “we”, I really mean my husband. 😉 When we got it a decade ago, it came with a wooden stand that had rubber tires. It made it helpful to move the Green Egg, because that thing is heavy!

However, after a few years, Stephen noticed that the weight of the grill makes the tires go flat. He’s tried several fixes, including patching and brand new tires. Finally, Stephen decided he’d had enough of the rubber tires and tried something new!

This is how our tires ended up before my husband decided to try something new.

He took the Green Egg out… I helped him… that wasn’t stress at ALL! 😉 (that sucker is so heavy, and it’s made of porcelain!)

Stephen took off the tires, along with the long 2×4 pieces of wood that they were screwed into. (they were rotting in spots) He cut two new pieces of 2×4 the exact same length and installed them in the same spot as the original pieces of wood.

He added in an extra shorter piece of 2×4 wood, because the wheels he got to put on had a wider plate to screw into the wood. It required more wood space than a single 2×4. He screwed these smaller pieces into the main 2×4 pieces.

He purchased these 2″ castor wheels from Amazon. Four of these wheels can hold between 450-600 pounds total! They swivel and have a brake lock.

Check it out now!

SO much better!
