My husband and I just did a project in our house that I have been wanting to do for a couple of years! We had a typical front door- a solid door with window panes on the sides and above. It was fine. Really, nothing wrong with it.
HOWEVER… I absolutely love the look of double front doors. I started doing research on before and after pictures on doors that were similar to ours. I loved it. I felt like having these new front doors would add value to our house. My husband agreed, but we didn’t look too much into it… I was assuming it would easily be $5,000-$8,000, and we really didn’t have to make this change.
But… last month, we decided to go for it! Here was our door before:

We found a local guy who had fantastic ratings. There were a few options we had to pick, such as:
-The style of door we would want
-Wood or fiberglass (we did fiberglass)
-The color of door (we could do either black or unpainted)
-What color threshold (silver or black)
-What hardware, and do we want handles on one side or both sides?
The guy was in regular communication with us, and gave us advice with picking all of the above decisions. When he started work, it only took a total of about 4 hours!

Check it out now!!

I LOVE IT! It makes a huge difference on how much natural light comes into our house. It makes everything feel so much more open!
To give you an idea on what we paid him for his labor, the doors, and a couple of upgrades (already being painted black and doing a black threshold), we paid a total of $4,100. We did one handle and deadbolt, which was an extra ~$160.
I wanted to share my “before and after” if this is something you’ve been thinking about doing. I would say to go for it!! It has been a gamechanger at our house!
