My sister and brother-in-law have a big space that combines several “rooms” into one… there’s the laundry room, their pantry, and a serving/bar area all together. There is a gap in the wall, between where the dryer is and where their pull-down ironing board is, that she had wanted to build a mud area. It would be a good spot to hang bags, put shoes, and decorate! She asked if we could help them with it.

Stephen and I got to planning. We figured out the bench. We figured out the framing of the area. We also figured out how to add the shelf at the top, and how to make our own shelf holders. (We couldn’t believe how much those shelf holders were at Home Depot!) We also added board and batten on the walls. We spent two days working… one to paint, and one to install.

I will break down this mud area into a few blogs, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak at the before and after!
