You may recall that my daughter had a teal board and batten accent wall in her bedroom. Now that she’s almost a teenager, she said she wanted something less… bold. 🙂 She looked on Pinterest and found an idea of what she wanted!

Before:

She picked out the color Wordly Gray by Sherwin Williams, and she also selected Pure White by Sherwin Williams.

She wanted to board and batten to be the gray, and the top to be white.

I knew the teal color might be hard to cover with paint, but it luckily only took two coats of the gray to cover it.

I peeled off the vinyl arrows on the top section. They were easy to pull off… they did pull some of the paint off, but luckily not any of the wall.

The white, on the other hand, did not just take two coats. I was thinking it would need three, but it needed FOUR! (In hindsight, I would have used primer, and I think it would’ve saved me one coat). This is one coat of white on the top half and two on bottom…

This is two coats…

Three coats…

And four! Whew!

It is finally done! It has lightened her room a lot, and definitely feels less pre-teen and more mature. The stuffed animals on the other hand… 😉
