As an Amazon employee, I earn commission from purchases.
When our house was built, the builder used those builder-grade mirrors in all of the bathrooms. We updated our guest bathroom and our basement bathroom’s mirrors with wooden frames, but haven’t touched any of the others. My kids’ mirrors are smaller and I wanted to experiment with something I had found on Amazon.
These peel-and-stick trim pieces were on sale for $20-22 a roll. One roll would work for a single mirror. I got black for my daughter (to match the black rimmed mirrors in her bedroom) and white for my other daughter and son (since their bathrooms have a lighter tone).
I got the 2.5 inch width, but they do sell them in thinner sizes.

I started off by cleaning the mirrors really well with Windex. Our mirrors have those plastic clips on top that I wouldn’t have been able to cover over with the trim. I removed one clip to see what would happen without it. Luckily, the mirrors were glued really well on the wall, so I felt comfortable just taking them off and not replacing.

I decided to do the top and bottom horizontal pieces all the way across, and then fill in the vertical pieces to match up between the ends of the horizontal pieces. All I had to do was cut the trim with scissors!

I debated whether or not to do 45 degree angle at the ends so that the horizontal and vertical pieces matched up that way, but I decided to just have them meet at a 90 degree angle. Just know that that is an option!
I continued filling in the other pieces.

Here is the final product, with all her junk put back in place! 🤣

Here are before and afters of my other two kids’.

If you’re looking for a cheap and super easy way to update your mirror, I would highly recommend this hack!
